Visiting an Inmate at Glades County Detention Center (ICE)

Visiting someone held at Glades County Detention Center (ICE) in Moore Haven, Florida is one of the most direct ways to support them during their time in custody. County jails operate under their own visitation rules, set by the sheriff's office or county corrections administration, and those rules differ from state prisons and federal facilities. Before you make the drive, confirm the current schedule and visitor requirements by calling Glades County Detention Center (ICE) directly at 863-946-1600.

Visiting Hours and Scheduling

Most county jails, including Glades County Detention Center (ICE), schedule visitation by day of the week and inmate housing unit. Some require booking through an online portal or phone reservation, while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis during posted windows. Walk-in visits are increasingly rare. Holiday schedules change without much notice. Call 863-946-1600 a day or two before your planned visit to confirm the slot is still open and your name is on the approved list.

Approved Visitor List and ID Requirements

Before your first visit to Glades County Detention Center (ICE), the inmate usually has to add your name to their approved visitor list. The jail then runs a background check, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID - driver's license, state ID, military ID, or passport. Expired IDs are rejected. If you're bringing a minor, expect to show a birth certificate and proof of guardianship.

Dress Code and What You Can Bring

Glades County jail dress codes are strict and enforced at the door. No revealing clothing, no clothing resembling inmate uniforms (typically orange, tan, or stripes depending on the facility), no hats, no hooded sweatshirts in some jails. Leave your phone, bag, keys, and wallet in your car or in the visitor lockers. Bringing contraband, even accidentally, can end the visit, get you banned, and in some cases result in your own arrest.

Video Visitation

Many county jails now offer remote video visitation through providers like Securus, GTL/ViaPath, HomeWAV, or Smart Communications, in addition to or instead of in-person visits. Video visits are usually paid per minute and require setting up an account in advance. Whether Glades County Detention Center (ICE) offers video visitation, and which provider handles it, varies. To find current options, call 863-946-1600 to confirm the facility's video setup.

If a Visit Is Denied

Visits at Glades County Detention Center (ICE) can be denied for reasons including incomplete paperwork, an inmate in disciplinary segregation, a recent facility lockdown, or your name not yet being cleared on the visitor list. If you're turned away, ask the lobby officer for the specific reason and what's required to resolve it. Don't argue at the desk - it goes on record and can affect future visits.

For the most current visitation hours, visitor application process, and scheduling instructions at Glades County Detention Center (ICE), call 863-946-1600.

Visiting Rules

All friend and family visits are non-contact.

No firearms or weapons of any kind. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios) in secure areas. Visitors cannot pass anything to detainees or carry items into the visitation area.

Attorney Visits

In-person attorney visits run daily, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For appointments on or after May 1, 2026, legal visits can be scheduled in advance through ERO eFile on a first-come basis, in 2-hour blocks. Back-to-back appointments are not permitted. Walk-in visits are still permitted, but scheduled visits get priority.

A list of pro bono legal organizations is posted in every housing unit and updated quarterly. Detainees are responsible for contacting these organizations to schedule appointments.

Virtual Attorney Visits

For appointments on or after May 1, 2026, attorneys must request video teleconference (VTC) meetings or confidential legal phone calls through ERO eFile. Confirmation comes back through ERO eFile.

VTC sessions run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in 60-minute blocks. Appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks ahead but no later than 24 hours before the slot, on a first-come basis. Attorneys are permitted up to two 60-minute appointments with the same detainee in a single day.

The ERO eFile request must include: the attorney's full name and contact info, the detainee's name and A-number (or name, date of birth, and country of birth), and the Zoom, Teams, or WebEx meeting ID and passcode in the Virtual Meeting Information section. For phone-only calls, note that and provide the number the facility should call. This is required before you can select a time slot.

Required attachments: a scan of the attorney's government ID, proof of legal status (bar card, attorney license, paralegal license, or similar), and the eFiled G-28 unless this is a pre-representational visit. If a legal assistant is joining alone, attach a letter of authorization on firm letterhead and a scan of the assistant's ID.

For requests under PBNDS 2011 Section 5.7 (V.N.1) and Section 4.3 (V.FF), upload the written request in the Attorney Authorization Letter field and the Professional Licensure or Curriculum Vitae in the Medical/Mental Health Evaluators field.

Only legal representatives, legal assistants, and interpreters are allowed on these calls. No family, no friends. The attorney can use outside interpretation services during the session. Calls are confidential; an officer stays within sight but out of earshot and will knock 5 minutes before the cutoff.

The facility can cancel or reschedule appointments to manage safety risks or to make sure other attorneys and detainees get fair access. If no slots are available or you have an exigent circumstance, contact attorneyvisitation@GladesSheriff.org or 863-946-1600 ext. 2167.
