Communication is important, the prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.
While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.
Rockville CF, nestled on approximately 52 acres just one-mile northwest of Rockville, Indiana, began its journey as a juvenile male facility in 1970. Over time, it transitioned through various stages, accommodating different populations until it exclusively housed adult females. Now, it stands as the largest female facility within the Department of Correction.
In 1995, the state approved a comprehensive plan to revamp the Rockville Training Center into a 600-bed facility tailored to the needs of women. Over three years, the site underwent extensive reconstruction, including the demolition of 23 structures, conversion of five buildings for upgraded heating systems, and construction of 13 new buildings. Today, the facility boasts 22 buildings within its premises, along with two residences, collectively accommodating over 1,200 incarcerated individuals.
As the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, Rockville Correctional conducts thorough assessments to ensure each inmate is assigned to appropriate programming tailored to their needs. In addition to intake procedures, the facility offers a myriad of educational and vocational training opportunities. These include cosmetology, parenting support, and a partnership with Televerde, providing training and work opportunities both within and outside the facility, post-release.
