PCF is a State - maximum state correctional facility in Pendleton, IN, operated by the Indiana Department of Corrections. Inmates serve sentences ranging from one year to life and have access to programs including education, vocational training, and work assignments. This page covers how to locate an inmate, schedule visits, make calls, send money, and stay connected throughout their sentence at PCF.
While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.
Pendleton Correctional Facility, located in Pendleton, Indiana, is a level three maximum security adult male facility with an adjacent minimum-security dormitory. Originating from the banks of the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, Indiana, it was initially constructed in 1821 as the Indiana State Prison, later designated as the Indiana Reformatory in 1897. After a fire in 1918, the facility relocated to its current site in 1921, with many existing buildings dating back to the 1922-1923 construction. Significant expansions and renovations, including new housing units in 1985 and an infirmary in 1988, have since been completed.
In 1996, the facility was renamed Pendleton Correctional Facility. The Indiana Department of Correction offers a wide array of programming and activities tailored to the needs of both the facility and its offenders, with many initiatives led by volunteers. Among the current programming opportunities available at Pendleton are A.A./N.A. (Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous) meetings, educational courses ranging from G.E.D. to college-level studies, creative outlets like creative writing and Shakespeare, and specialized programs such as Because I Said I Would (B.I.S.I.W.) and Indiana Canine Assistant Network (I.C.A.N.). Additionally, there are initiatives focused on health education, re-entry preparation, religious services, and personal development, including Purposeful Living Units Serve (P.L.U.S.) and Thinking for a Change (T4C). Pendleton Correctional Facility prioritizes rehabilitation and offers diverse opportunities for offenders to learn, grow, and prepare for successful reintegration into society. For more information on these programs and volunteer opportunities, individuals are encouraged to visit the IDOC Programs page or the facility's volunteer page.
