Telfair State Prison, established in 1991 and opened in 1992, is dedicated to housing adult male felons within a close-security environment. Serving as both a Tier I and Tier II STEP facility, it caters to general population offenders and emphasizes a vegan diet approach.
The prison comprises eight housing units, including five units with double-bunked cells, two open dormitories, and an isolation/segregation unit with 40 single cells and 40 double-bunked cells.
