FCF is a State - medium state correctional facility in Canon City, CO, operated by the Colorado Department of Corrections. Inmates serve sentences ranging from one year to life and have access to programs including education, vocational training, and work assignments. This page covers how to locate an inmate, schedule visits, make calls, send money, and stay connected throughout their sentence at FCF.
While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.
FCF originally opened in 1958 as a Medium Custody facility and has since evolved into a Level III mixed custody facility. With a total of 1,621 beds, FCF currently accommodates Minimum, Minimum Restricted, Medium, and Close Custody inmates.
The facility provides a wide range of inmate programs, including a Therapeutic Community, JCAP (Juveniles Convicted as Adults Program), Pre-Release Programs, and a Sex Offender Treatment Program. These programs aim to address various needs and challenges faced by the inmate population, facilitating rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
In addition to program offerings, FCF offers meaningful work opportunities for inmates, including employment in the Correctional Industries Furniture shop and Metal Products shop. These work assignments not only provide inmates with vocational skills but also instill a sense of responsibility and purpose, contributing to their personal development and potential for successful transition upon release.
