The Pine Bluff Unit, a medium-minimum state prison, is situated in Jefferson County next door to the Randall L. Williams Correctional Facility, and operated by the AR DOC. Housing approximately 430 inmates, the facility provides various opportunities for incarcerated individuals to work within the institution itself. These jobs encompass maintaining facility grounds, warehouse duties, clothing/garment production, and working with horses.
In addition to employment opportunities, the Pine Bluff Unit offers programs addressing mental health, education, and substance abuse issues. Operational activities at the facility include the Canine Unit, Construction, Gardening, the GED Program, Grounds Maintenance, Mental Health initiatives, a Reentry Program, the Think Legacy Program, Warehouse operations, and Work Release opportunities.
Prisoners at the Pine Bluff Unit may qualify for work release, allowing them to work in the surrounding community in regular jobs and report back to the institution at the end of the workday.
