What if Western Union does not list a facility
If you are trying to send money via western union online, but the facility you need is not listed, what do you do?
If the facility you need is not listed on Western Union, it usually means they do not service that jail or prison. Western Union only works with certain systems, not all facilities.
When that happens, you still have a few options:
1. Use the facility’s approved method
Most jails and prisons have their own required way to send money, such as:
- Money orders by mail
- Other services like JPay or Access Corrections
- Kiosk deposits at the facility
2. Send a money order
This is the most widely accepted fallback. You can:
- Purchase a money order
- Mail it directly to the facility following their instructions
3. Use InmateAid’s money order service
If you cannot send it yourself, InmateAid can prepare and mail a money order to the facility on your behalf, which is especially helpful when online options are limited.
The key is to always follow the exact deposit rules for that specific facility, because if the method is not approved, the funds will be rejected or delayed.
