How long it takes for an inmate to be transferred to a new location?

Hello, do you know how long it takes for an inmate to be transferred to a new location? He had a parole meeting few days ago and he was told they are sending him to the residential community program (either halfway house or halfway back program). He doesn't know where he is going yet, nor when. Can you please tell me how long it can take for him to be transferred? Thank you very much!

This depends solely on bed space.

This depends solely on bed space. Everyone working their way towards the door sometimes meets a log jam getting into a halfway house near their family. There are far fewer halfway house beds than prison beds. It could be a few days or several weeks unfortunately. We've even heard of inmate's halfway house time being served in the originating institution. The good news, he has an out-date!
