Congratulations on the approval. Here is what to expect from this point forward.

Your husband will be notified of his parole approval through official paperwork delivered at the facility. That notification does not happen instantly after the board meeting. There is typically a processing lag of a week or two before the formal papers reach him, so do not be alarmed if he does not have documents in hand immediately after your call with the board.

The home visit happens separately and on the parole officer's schedule, not yours. They will come by unannounced, which is standard practice. The visit is an assessment of the living environment rather than an interrogation. They are looking for a stable, normal household that is free of obvious red flags. No drugs, no weapons, no alcohol in plain sight, no people with criminal records living there who would create a conflict with parole conditions. A clean, organized home that looks like a place someone can successfully reenter society from is what gets approved.

If everything looks appropriate during the visit, the address gets cleared and the release process moves forward. A rejection means going back to the drawing board with a different address, which adds significant time to the timeline.

From the point of parole approval to actual release, plan on about two months as a realistic window when everything moves smoothly. That accounts for the home visit, the address approval, the facility's processing of the release paperwork, and the administrative steps on the parole board's end.

Use this time to make sure the home is ready, the conditions of his parole are understood by both of you, and a plan is in place for his first days out.
