How Do I Verify Which Jail Someone Is Actually In?

my question is this. I called the county they say my person is not there. I look online and it gives an inmate number with cell info by no sentencing or release date. The site states he is currently housed in a county in Georgia. I am from the north. How do I actually verify that someone is definitely in jail and which jail are they in?
